For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
After watching the music video for Drake’s song ‘God’s Plan’, not only did I shed a tear but I really started to think about the plan that God has for me.
God’s plan, God’s plan, God’s plan …. the idea of this was heavy on my heart for a few days. What is God’s ultimate plan for me? Will I achieve it to its full extent? Will I even make it to fulfilling this plan or will life’s challenges and mistakes pull me off track?
Then I realised, by asking these questions I am questioning and challenging the power of God. Everything that has happened to me, good or bad has been part of God’s plan! The challenges I have faced have been no more than I can handle; to set me up for the things to come and prepare me to fulfil the plans that God has for me.
As hard as it may be I always try to see the brighter side in a negative situation. Be it being rejected after a job interview, rejections in relationships or general set backs I find comfort in the fact that this was God’s plan. The things in our life do not happen by accident and without God’s knowledge.
Although things that I thought were the plan turned out to not be right for me, that doesn’t mean that going through the situation or circumstance wasn’t right! God’s plan is bigger than any plan I can ever imagine for myself, and the trials and tribulations life throws at me is preparing me for it!
